The skipper Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana picked up 3 wickets each and Sri Lanka won by 21 runs.
The next match against India was a crucial one. Sri Lanka bowled beautifully and put pressure on Indian batters by introducing spin early on in their innings. India kept losing wickets and reached 213 runs. Dunith Wellalage picked up a fifer and Charith Asalanka’s 4-fer were stand-out performances. Their batting faltered initially which got steady when Dhananjaya de Silva and Dunith Wellalage made a lovely partnership of 63 runs. Things were going their way but the former threw his wicket to Ravindra Jadeja which sealed the game for India and Sri Lanka lost the match by 41 runs.
