SL vs IRE Match 15 Preview

Team Sri Lanka

The island nation is roaring at the moment because they have crushed their opponents in the first two matches. Currently, sitting on top of Group B with 4 points, they have ticked all the right boxes. Dasun Shanaka led the team quite well as he does often. They first defeated the UAE by a huge margin and then Oman by 10 wickets. Sri Lanka is riding high on Wanindu Hasaranga’s magical spin bowling. The top order of Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne is looking solid at the top. The wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya de Sliva are good to go in the middle order. The aggressive captain and Wanindu finish the innings very well. The pace bowling is also getting some wickets like Lahiru Kumara and Kasun Rajitha.

In the previous match against Oman, Sri Lanka bundled out Oman on mere 98 runs. Hasaranga’s 5-fer and Kumara’s thrice dismantled the batting of Oman. In response, Sri Lanka gets over the line in just 15 overs without losing a wicket. Both openers finished the job quite well. Overall, this match should be another cakewalk for Sri Lanka as Ireland is underperforming at the moment.

Team Ireland

The Irish side is hugely disappointed with their outing in this tournament. Andrew Balbirnie and his men are under serious pressure. With back-to-back losses, only they were to blame themselves for their performance. They were handed defeats unexpectedly by lower rank teams. Even Harry Tector who recently won the Player of the Month award for the month of June couldn’t rescue them. The standout players from the Irish side are George Dockrell for his excellent batting display in both matches by hitting half-centuries and Mark Adair for his good bowling. Except for these two, none of them showed grit, determination and confidence.

Oman outclassed them in the first match by chasing the target by 5 wickets.  It was a decent score set by Ireland but their bowlers let them down and couldn’t stop the onslaught of Oman. Tector and Dockrell played brilliantly to set a respectable target after their batting collapsed. In the second match, Scotland’s come-from-behind performance broke the Irish hearts. The Scottish were nowhere in the game and after the wickets were fallen down, they couldn’t avoid leaking runs and bowled poorly.

Michael Leask’s heroics stole the show, the one who got them over the line. They had the likes of experienced Paul Stirling, and Balbirnie at the top order. Tector, Dockrell and Curtis Campher are in the middle and Josh Little, Mark Adair and Ben White are in the bowling. All of them couldn’t play as a team together and some individual performances couldn’t rescue them. Overall, this is an uphill task against the mighty and in-form Sri Lanka and Ireland could only pray for their best to come if they want to win this match. Even if they win this match, they still have to wait for the other team’s results to come.

Sri Lanka vs Ireland Fantasy Predictions

SL vs IRE Fantasy Predictions

Sri Lanka

  • The southpaw Dimuth Karunaratne is in fine nick after making a comeback in the ODIs for Sri Lanka. He has hit back-to-back half-centuries and is in outstanding touch with the bat. Expect another good score from him.
  • Nissanka is also supporting well on the other hand. He has also scored a fine fifty against the UAE.
  • K Mendis is making the best use of the opportunities given to him. He made a fine 78 in the first match.
  •  C Asalanka is in brilliant touch with the bat. His striking ability is amazing against the spinners and therefore his strike rate is unbelievably above 200.
  • W Hasaranga can bowl out the opposition again single-handedly. He could be the match-winner and a good captaincy pick again.
  • L Kumara has a good pace and he can take a wicket or a two at the beginning of the match. A good bowling option to gain some fantasy points.

Ireland

  • Expectations are from George Dockrell that he can play and score well again. He has hit consecutive half-centuries and is the lone warrior in the team. After hitting a half-century in the first match, expect him to make a comeback and deliver this time.
  • Curtis Campher scored a magnificent ton in the last game. Therefore, he is expected to repeat his performance. He can contribute well in bowling too.
  • J Little is not at his best but this is a pressure game and therefore he would want to give all his sweat out in the field.
  • Mark Adair is doing well at the moment. He has picked up 5 wickets so far and therefore in the death overs, he could give more fantasy points.
