Pitch Report

Pitch Report

The overcast conditions are there and it might be good to bowl first here because it will assist the pacers early on. Batting looks easier in the second innings and the pitch will get better in the second innings. A 300+ score is still expected from the team batting first.

West Indies vs Netherlands Match 18 Preview

WI vs NED Match 18 Preview

Team West Indies

The Islanders started off extremely well with consecutive wins but then handed a defeat by the hands of host Zimbabwe. They have slipped to 3rd position below the Netherlands but still, they want to finish well as the two points and the NRR will carry forward in the next round. The Sikandar Raza storm hurt the West Indies and they would be gutted that they couldn’t chase the target.

Shai Hope led the team and it improved very well. They began the campaign with a win over the USA but their comfortable win came against Nepal in the second match. In the 3rd match, Zimbabwe stunned everyone including West Indies. They won it by 35 runs and this was a huge upset for the Caribbean side. Bowling first, West Indies restricted the hosts to 268 runs, a below-par score. Keemo Paul picked up 3 wickets while Alzari Joseph and Akeal Hossein took each a couple of wickets. In response to that total, Kyle Mayers notched up a fine fifty but couldn’t bat longer. Nicholas Pooran and Roston Chase chipped in with some runs but that wasn’t enough. They were bowled out on 233 and lost the match by 35 runs. Sikandar Raza shined again both with bat and ball. West Indies messed up with their batting and dropped some catches too. They have to be at their best because the points and the NRR is going to be very crucial in the next round.

Team Netherlands

The Dutch are growing in confidence as the tournament is progressing. A win today will confirm their spot in the next Super Sixes round. Scott Edwards led the team very well. They faced a defeat in the opening match against the host Zimbabwe but came back strongly in the next two by winning both two matches. They are full member side and therefore cannot allow themselves to slip further. The strong batting lineup of Brandon King, Johnson Charles and Kyle Mayers is at the top. The middle order is boasted by Shai Hope, Roston Chase and in-form Pooran. The bowling is further strengthened by Akeal Hossein. Keemo Paul is having a dream run so far since he is enjoying his bowling.

In the last match against Nepal, they were bowled out by the Netherlands on a mere 168. Logan van Beek picked up a 4-fer while Bas de Leede and Vikramjit Singh picked up a couple of wickets. The chase began and Max O’Dowd played a magnificent 90-run knock to take them home quite easily. They won by 7 wickets. The Netherlands would want to continue their winning streak and put in their best to beat the West Indies side.
